Flow Hive 2+
Product Details
It’s hard to think of a more rewarding hobby than beekeeping. However, extracting honey from a conventional hive used to be a real labor of love:
You’d have to suit up, smoke the bees, crack the hive open, lift out the frames, sweep off the bees, transport the frames to your honey shed, uncap each frame with a hot knife, stick the frames in a centrifuge, spin out the honey, filter out the wax and bee bits, fill your jars, take the empty frames back to the hive, open the hive again to replace them, then clean up all the mess. Phew!
It was hot, sticky, heavy work, involving special equipment and lots of squashed bees.
Not anymore!
After a decade of tinkering, my dad Stu and I invented the beekeeper’s dream – the Flow Hive.
It’s so much easier for the beekeeper and so much gentler on the bees.
It makes harvesting honey as simple as turning a tap and watching as up to 4.5 lb (3kg) of pure fresh honey pours out into your jar from each Flow Frame. And because it’s completely unprocessed, it tastes amazingly good!
“This has all come about because of our love for the bees and an acknowledgement of how important they are, not only to the food we eat, but to all life on Earth.”
– Stuart Anderson
“If we look after the bees, they’ll look after us. And the honey really is an amazing bonus.”
– Cedar Anderson
We’ve listened to feedback from thousands of customers around the world and have redesigned our hive bodies to provide you with the very best experience – especially for new beekeepers.
Made by us
We have redesigned the Flow Hive 2 from the ground up and are manufacturing it in-house in Australia, using precision laser cutting. This allows us to focus on quality control and ensure the highest levels of sustainability throughout the process, whilst giving us the ability to innovate more quickly.
Premium woodware
Created from highly durable, sustainably-sourced, A-grade, Western Red Cedar, the Flow Hive 2 is laser-cut and built with precision by us in Australia.
Integrated adjustable hive stand
As an exclusive presale offer, for all purchases during this third birthday celebration we’re including an adjustable leg kit. This handy feature enables you to control the height and level of your hive perfectly, even on uneven ground.
The ability to precisely adjust the height of the hive on each individual corner makes just about any terrain suitable for a Flow Hive.
Built-in spirit levels
The newly redesigned base features two inbuilt spirit levels to ensure that your hive’s setup is optimal for honey harvesting, and to help the bees in building straight natural brood comb.
Ventilation control
The unique ventilation control system allows you to support your bees as the seasons change, increasing or decreasing air flow depending on external weather conditions.
Multifunctional tray
Our new base design features a multifunctional tray which slides into the base, allowing you to trap pests and monitor your colony’s health.
Better handles
The brood box handles are deeply cut for easier lifting. The brood box comes with 8 foundationless brood frames for the bees to naturally build their brood comb. The brood frames are also built to accommodate wax and wire or plastic foundation if you wish.
Flow Hive super
The Flow Super (the honey box) is specially designed to accommodate our patented Flow Frames, and now features observation windows on both sides, giving you more insight into the fascinating world of your bees as they fill the Flow Super with delicious honey.
Premium brass fixtures
The Flow Hive 2 features high-quality durable solid brass fixtures throughout, which over time will become a beautiful tarnished colour.
Harvesting shelf
Also included in this pre-sale offer is a convenient, height-adjustable harvesting shelf to make collecting your honey even easier than before.
Inner cover with plug
Our inner cover is designed with a central hole should you need to feed your bees in lean times. This now comes with a convenient plug allowing you to control bee access to your roof cavity if you would like to allow them to build honeycomb in the roof.
Single shingles
The shingled roof sections now come pre-glued as one panel for better weather protection, and with placement guides for easier assembly.
Protection against the elements
Our gabled roof now comes with sturdy brass wing screws, to ensure the roof is secure even in adverse weather conditions.
Handy assembly tool
The Flow Hive 2 comes complete with an assembly tool so you can easily put your hive together, even by hand if you wish.
Flow Frames
In addition to all of these exciting new features, our beautiful new Flow Hive 2 includes everything that’s made Flow a favourite with beekeepers all over the world, including our patented Generation 2 Flow Frames that allow you to collect pure fresh honey straight from the hive.
Keeping bees is such a joyful and rewarding pastime. It gives you the opportunity to observe the interconnectedness of life, to appreciate the changing seasons in a new way, and to play an active role in contributing to the health of your environment.
As you get to know your bees, you’ll discover many fascinating aspects of their behaviour. You’ll start to notice little things like how they communicate with each other, the way they construct honeycomb, and which plants are in flower throughout the year. Plus, of course, there’s also the sweetness of having honey to share with your family and neighbours.
So you want to be a beekeeper, but are feeling a little nervous?

“Ya know, I think the most interesting part about the honey coming out of the Flow Hive is the difference in each frame of honey.
And so, harvesting a frame of honey and just being able to smell it like a glass of wine and actually the floral notes are there. I mean, if you smell a bottle of honey that’s been extracted, it just, it’s not the same.”
– Jeff Walker, Texas
As bees tend to focus on filling one individual Flow Frame before moving on to the next, even within a single Flow Hive, the flavour will vary between frames depending on the forage available.
Flow technology allows those single origin flavours to shine through, while eliminating the incidental blending and the oxidation associated with conventional methods.

I’m new to bee keeping. We ordered a flow hive after doing a lot of research. It was relatively easy to assemble and we have really been enjoying it. Highly recommend!

I recently ordered two Flow Hives. Been happy with both. Quality wood makes good looking hive. It’s a hive that will stand up to the elements while dressing up the pasture! Overall very happy with the purchase

All that said we just released a package of bee into it 2 weeks ago and the queen about 10 days ago. So everything is still slow and no honey harvest yet. The bees have however fill 3 frames about a half full with comb so far. We like having the viewing windows for checking our sugar water mixture. The only complaint is on the caddy that we got bundled with our hive. Though it is great at carrying everything. It’s spot for holding the smoker detaches.quite easily.

Fantastic product and support I am very new to this experience and finding the support and understanding how incredible the bee world is inspiring

Assembling this Bee Temple was a breeze. The whole family worked together to assemble and oil it. Just waiting to get our bees and watch them work their magic. I can’t wait to try pure, fresh and clean honey straight from our hive. Thank you for making the extraction process so easy and stress free for the bees.

The assembly videos were so helpful and made assembly easy. We put it in our garden and it looks beautiful. We installed our nuc about a month ago and they are busy working. I love being able to watch them thru the observation window

Loved that it was easy to build. My wife and I appreciate the aesthetics. Since its a Langstroth style of hive, everything that i have learned still applies to this hive. The wedsite also has a lot of resourses and videos to easy you through each part of the prcoess.

Było łatwe do złożenia, zrobiłem to nawet, gdy byłem chory w łóżku. Malowanie było koszmarem – użyłem podkładu, a potem farby gruntowej, zajęło mi to 2 tygodnie malowania i 90 minut składania. Sugeruję barwienie ula. Tak właśnie zrobiłem podstawę. Jest przepiękna.

It is so easy to put together, the directions are thorough, the quality is outstanding and it is a beautiful product. The only points lost are that they don’t offer a medium depth box for those of us who need to give our bees a little extra space for wintering over. But the products are fantastic and I would absolutely buy again.

I great experience, love every minute of construction and of course the bee transfer !

North FL is where my hive is located. Got bees locally, nuc, installed and boom! Not even 2 months and we have HONEY, so good. I included photos, so tired of hearing it’s a scam or too good to be true. It’s simple learn some about bees from a local bee keeper, YouTube videos, get the proper equipment and do it. I have 2 brood boxes bc I wanted to expand so the bees had plenty of room. Add your super (flow frames) when your brood box is almost all filled. Add wax to your flow frames to entice the bees. I love the features of the flow hive 2+. Seriously can see what’s bothering ur bees in the bottom oil tray.

So far it has been wonderful. It is absolutely fabulous watching God‘s creation at work.

I recently received my new Flow Hive and bees. As a veteran with PTSD, I have to admit that interacting with the bees and hive system is such a calming and relaxing therapy for me. The Flow Hive is such a well-constructed system and I am looking forward to the harvesting of honey.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone that has an interest in beekeeping and to veterans that need a hobby to take their mind off of any trauma they may be experiencing.

Hi there , i,m very new to bee kipping ,however, after studding bee keeping for about a year or so, I’ve was tossing up between different types of bee hive type options i was impressed with your flow hive invention and decided to invest in a 8 frame cedar flow hive 2 , it was very easy to construct, and the bees I’ve installed seem to love it. they seem friendlier than they were in the 10 frame brood box where i sourced them from. it’s only been 3 weeks since i installed them an they’ve already waxed there super flow frames, i live in qld at Hervey bay , and were about to start winter, so it will be interesting to see how spring starts with the honey flow.. but i would say thank you for your flow hive invention , i love it ,and i be leave its made bee keeping better. cheers from Russell sadler at Hervey bay qld.

My first Flowhive was a Christmas gift from my children and that’s what started my obsession with bees. Since I’m 80 years old lifting boxes and processing honey the old way just wasn’t going to work for me. Harvesting honey with the Flow Hive makes it so much easier and no honey is wasted. It’s a joy to be able to observe the bees during every single stage from collecting pollen and nectar to making wax and storing honey! Never would I ever have any other type of beehive! Whenever I’m at beekeeper meetings I always share my experience with the Flowhive and find older beekeepers are skeptical, but the younger beekeepers are very interested! I love it!
Kezza
So happy to have flow hive as I moved the bees from the regular boxes to the flow hive system, better honey production and less work.

Your design and concept was impressive. The assembly was easy and quick. The wood is cut with precision and instructions were on point. Thank you for a quality product.

I am a backyard beekeeper with 3 Flow Hive 2+. These hives are just a work of art. They are so beautifully engineered that every piece fits perfectly. Our bees are right at home and took to the honey supers really well. We’re looking forward to our first honey harvest later this year!
Noah
I’ve had my flow hive 2+ for a year now and I’m about to order another. My bees and I couldn’t be happier. After a year in the elements (North Wales (UK) so not too extreme) the hive looks as good as new. I had a good harvest last year and can’t fault the flow system (no rapeseed or plants that cause crystallisation here to cause any issues around here). Well built and the frames stand up well to harvests. The nuc I got was on national frames so I cable tied them into the Hoffman frames in the brood and that’s worked well. Very happy bees.
Mr Steve R B Wood
Assembly was a breeze and the instructions very clear. Definitely looks and feels like product above the competition!

Absolutely Great!

Everything fit well. And since this is my second flowhive, I’m excited to get started.
Jessica
I loved my Flow hive 2+ so much that i bought a second one! I’m a brand new beekeeper, but this system makes the entire process a lot easier and way less scary!
Natalie
The innovative design behind the flow hive is great. I’ve purchased two hives and have found the assembly instructions very easy to follow. And the parts fit perfectly.
ROSEMAY ANDERSON
This is our first hive. It took about three hours for us to assemble, fairly easy directions. We just got our bee’s and put them in yesterday. We are excited about our new journey with the bees. For us, it’s another way we can be self sufficient and know where our food is coming from!
Frank
I love these hives. This is my second Flow Hive 2+. This one is my sons hive so we went with a Winnie the Pooh theme. My dad and I woodburned the pictures into the boxes and stained it so everything has that great Cedar look and the pictures just pop on the boxes.

I now own 2 Flow Hives. From top to bottom I love it. The stand makes my life easier the height is great and the ant control is perfect plus adding levels to the stand was genius. The wood used is high quality plus it looks gorgeous. The roof is just cute. The flow frames took me moving some brood up to convince the bees to start liking the frames but now they are using them and I can’t wait to get my first harvest. I only wish the kit came with 2 deeps plus the deep for the supers. But overall I’m very pleased.
Mr Thomas S Foulkes
Going back to the super, harvesting honey with the flow frames is just the best! It’s so easy! And fun! And the honey comes out so clean, raw and pure. Typical extraction methods is actually processing the honey. Our honey is truly unprocessed. It’s just such an amazing invention! We love our hives! Thank you Flow Hive! Sincerely, James’ wife

Assembly of the Flow Hive 2+ was straightforward and the how-to videos made by the company were very helpful. I finished the hives with Boiled Linseed Oil and painted the roofs and they turned out gorgeous. Bees arrive next week. Can’t wait to get started!
Justin
Our flow hive 2+ arrived promptly with all the correct items, the instruction manual was easy to follow and all products were finished with excellent craftsmanship – very happy with the finished product, thank you! Just have to organise our bees come Spring now!
